Description
Current Lot Philco Predicta Barber Pole Pedestal TV Model #4654 Of all the different models that Philco produced for this line, none are more attention-getting than the full-sized Predicta "barber pole" pedestal model. While it uses the same 22" x 18" elevated housing for the cathode ray tube (measuring roughly 20", diagonally, housed in a grayish-tan painted case), it is obviously different from the other models in its use of a 25" tall x 12" wide x 12-1/2" deep, curved-back platform. The attractively streamlined "barber pole" base is formed from a tasteful blending of cherry wood laminate and brass and cream-colored design elements. The face plate contains all five original control knobs, including a cream-and-brass tuner dial, as well as cream-colored plastic knobs for the volume control, and the horizontal, vertical, and brightness adjusters. From the bottom of its crescent-shaped front footings to the top of the CRT, the entire unit measures slightly more than 45" in height. This Predicta was designed by Severin Jonassen and Catherine Winkler, one of Philco's early women TV designers. This set originally sold for $495.95 and is equipped to recieve UHF stations. The unit has been fully reconditioned electronically. The original wooden cabinet has been nicely polished, and the entire assembly has a fresh and attractive appearance. This is fully functioning and ready to display or use. Please note: Due to the size and/or weight of this lot, the cost of shipping may be substantial.
